Mercedes Benz EQC Production In Bremen, Germany - First Mercedes Electric SUV 2020, Price, Specification and Release Dates.
The Mercedes EQC opens a new chapter at Daimler . The electric SUV is the first product of the brand "EQ": The two letters stand for "Electric Intelligence" and are to merge according to the manufacturer "the brand values emotion and intelligence". By 2022 Mercedes wants to have ten electric models at the start. Now Daimler has published a roadmap with the product plan for the year 2019. It can be seen that the EQC will roll to dealers in July 2019 at the latest . The electric SUV is available now. The starting price is 71.000 euros gross - this means that EQC buyers because of the net base price of less than 60,000 euros theE-car purchase premium can avail . The special model EQC Edition 1886, which is better equipped than the base, starts at 84,930 euros.
Visually, the Mercedes EQC resembles its platform brother GLC. Thus, the EQC runs on a combustion platform - an independent basis for electric vehicles is still under development at Mercedes. As a result, the EQC has a - for e-cars quite unnecessary - large front end. On the other hand, customers can benefit from the similarities between EQC and GLC. So there should be no bottlenecks in production from 2019 in Bremen . The EQC will be integrated as a purely electric vehicle in the ongoing series production. To delineate the EQC from the GLC, Mercedes positioned the E-SUV with its stretched roofline and the disc graphics with a low-positioned curb between the categories SUV and SUV coupe.
New brand face
Striking at the front is the large black panel surface that encloses the headlights and the grill. The upper end of the Black Panel is a light guide as optical connection between the daytime running lights. The interior trim of the standard LED headlights is black.
Anyone expecting futuristic electric high-tech like a Toyota Prius when entering the EQC will be disappointed. "Good!", Many will think. Mercedes does not want to scare customers into its first electric SUV and therefore relies on well-known and proven design. And strictly speaking, the MBUX is already a lot of high-tech. However, nothing to be afraid of, because at the first check of How To Cars has hit the new infotainment system well . In the EQC, the MBUX also has displays for range, state of charge and energy flow. For further visual distinction, Mercedes in the EQC does not rely on the round air vents as in the GLC, instead vertical and horizontal air vents in rose gold come herefor use. The climate control elements are easily inclined to the driver. As a result, the MBUX displays do not sit on the front of the dashboard, but are slightly offset towards the center. In combination with the center console tapered center console, this creates a better sense of space than in the GLC. This fits an electric car, which usually scores with more space than a gas burner.
Update for MBUX
With the EQC, the MBUX gets the new tile "EQ" behind which all charging settings, consumption information and energy flows are stored. The loading settings allow you to plan the day and time at which the EQC should be loaded. This also works via the voice control: "Hey Mercedes, load the car to tomorrow morning 8 o'clock" and then it's the next day with a full battery to work.
Voice control also for co-driver
Another update will also be used in other new models such as the GLE. The speech recognition recognizes in the EQC whether the driver or passenger speaks and accordingly converts commands. If the passenger says "Mercedes, turn on the seat heating", then the seat heating for the passenger turns on. Previously, the driver had to take over the instruction for his neighbor. This also works in the climate setting. In future, speech recognition for the passengers in the fund is also conceivable. This requires a separate microphone , which is why the new A-Class, for example, will not benefit from the update.
Drive and battery
The drive system is new and comes with one electric drive train (eATS) each on the front and rear axles - so that the EQC benefits from the driving characteristics of a four-wheel drive. The total output is 300 kW (408 hp) , the maximum torque of both electric motors is 765 Nm. And like a fuel -efficient modern all-wheel drive , the electric drive is also trimmed for efficiency. The front e-machine takes over the weak to medium load range, the rear determines the dynamics. The lithium-ion battery in the vehicle floor has a capacity of 80 kWh and a total weight of 650 kg. Mercedes has decoupled the powertrains from the rubber mounts to the subframe and body in order to reduce the rumbling in the interior, which is typical of (battery-driven) heavy electric cars.
The driver of the Mercedes EQC can choose from five driving modes: Comfort, Eco, Max Range, Sport and Individual. In addition, the recuperation performance can be influenced via paddles behind the steering wheel.
ECO assistant for economical driving
The "ECO Assistant" should help with economical driving. As with many other e-cars, the driver gets hints - such as when he can take his foot off the accelerator pedal to "sail" the car or recuperate specifically before a speed limit. For this, navigation data, traffic sign recognition and information from the security assistants (radar and stereo camera) are used.
The range according to NEDC is between 445 and 471 kilometers . The EQC comes as standard with a 7.4 kW water-cooled on-board charger (OBL), ready for AC charging at home and at public charging stations. On a Mercedes wallbox, the battery should be charged up to three times faster than on a household socket. Even faster, the EQC could be recharged as standard via a DC charging station , for example on a CCS (Combined Charging Systems) with a maximum power of up to 110 kW. The charging time from ten to 80 percent remaining capacity (SoC) is then according to Mercedes about 40 minutes .

The new fully electric SUV the Mercedes Benz EQ C is here to take on Tesla and other electric car manufactures but who will win the race? I believe the one that will win the race is the one with the best battery, long lasting battery power and the one the will charge fastest. The new Mercedes EQC looks great and very promising. Many more awesome electric SUVs and electric cars are coming soon. The new Audi E-Tron will become a bestseller if the price is right. Like the Tesla Model 3. The Audi will charge fully in 30 minutes. And the EQC will also charge the battery very fast. The electric car battle is on and no doubt the future of electric and hybrid cars are exciting, but the question is; will they take over the car and SUV market or will petrol and diesel vehicle still be available in 40 years? If there is a way to lower the pollution with petrol and diesel cars they will and what about electric cars, don't they pollute? Maybe not short term but long term. What happens with all the used car batteries? Well lets enjoy the awesome new electric SUVs. Here is the new Mercedes Benz EQC in a new video:
