Electric car future is here or is it? The Future of Electric Cars...
Article By EuromanDriver.com In the past three - five years the vision of fully electric cars, SUVs and trucks has really moved ahead with fast speed. And especially in the past year several big car manufacturers has decided to go "all in" and invest billions of euros, pounds, dollars, Yen's in developing the best car batteries possible. But is it really good for the environment? German car brand Mercedes-Benz is going to invest billions of euros in new factories developing batteries in Germany. And Mercedes-Benz is not the only one jumping on the electric "hybrid train", also Volkswagen Group with Audi, Seat, Skoda, Porsche, Bentley is investing heavily in new electronic car batteries and ways of charging batteries fast. That is an area where electric car has to improve to become really mainstream. And the big problem in todays fully electric cars is the battery! The time it takes to charge an electric car battery takes way too long time and you can only drive limited miles/km. Usually today it takes 45 minutes to fully charge a battery, and that is simply too long time. And the cost of charging is the same as using a petrol engine car! So there is room for improvements. Tesla is doing pretty well with their cars and I love the way Tesla model S is driving. I have tried the new 2018 model p100 and it was very good. But Tesla is too expensive for most people. They made the model 3 though but the waiting time is ridiculously long. So whoever comes up with a fast charging technology and stronger lighter batteries are in a good spot for leading the electric car race of the future.
The green energy advocates have been very vocal in Europe and their “diesel ban” and “electric car” lobby work has affected many European Union politician's. And the diesel emission scandal that involved a lot of big car manufacturers has helped these electric car spokes people in their agenda of removing diesel and petrol cars altogether from EU and UK roads. But the thing is, the new diesel engines (euro 6) lead out very little CO2 (Carbon dioxide) and the same levels as of new “green” petrol engine cars. But when you read the news you only hear that diesel cars in general should be banned, but there is almost no explanation that the ban is only for older diesel cars from before 2014. But that is also a big part of the game play from the green energy lobbyist. They just want to shame all fuel based cars. But what is the proof that car batteries and their chargers are leading out less pollution than petrol cars or even Euro6 diesel vehicles What effects on the climate will it have when the car manufacturers starts developing these huge batteries and super fast charging stations in the amount of millions? Because That is a very good question and maybe the green energy lobbyist are afraid of answering that critical question. I agree that all old diesel cars before 2015 should be banned. But banning all diesel cars is problery the wrong move right now, especially if the pollution numbers given to the public are fraud! What are the pollution numbers of the long distance car batteries? The world is not ready for that yet. More research needs to be done! Honda is claiming that by 2022 it will only take 15 minutes to fully charge a battery. That sounds good but it's still to slow. And will Honda install charing stations in EVERY gas station across the world? I don’t think so. The good intentions are there, but it will still take many years for the world to be ready for a fully electrified car future. When you can charge a battery in five minutes and the car can drive 500 km on one load then we are talk business! But again I would like to see a comparison between Petrol Cars, Diesel Euro6 and Electric cars and hybrid cars. Who is really pollution the most? Not just driving but everything including the development of the batteries and chargers etc. I could be interesting to see. But at the moment the fossil fuel energy is the big bad thing in mainstream media. But it might change! Just always read the news between the lines. And by the way I look forward to the new electric SUVs from Audi and Mercedes-Benz. :) See Review: Audi e-tron, Mercedes Benz EQ, Jaguar I-Pace https://www.euromandriver.com Copyright 2018.
