Volkswagen T-Roc Compact SUV Review With Euroman Driver Test Driving New Cars 2018
My first thought after seeing the VW T-Roc in pre-show was that the outside looks really cool. And that alone from the exterior I would buy it! It is very sporty and tuff. One of the best compact SUV designs. The T-Roc I was reviewing was the top trim level GT and it had 19 inches alloy wheels which makes it look even better. The trunk/book is very spacious with 450 liters of space. When entering the car the interior design is ok, It has a great touch screen and center console with armrest, electric handbrake, air condition and cupholders and a place for the smartphones. That said the hard plastic EVERYWHERE is horrendous and suddenly the car feels very cheap! Even though this top trim level is not cheap. VW could by adding a little more soft spots have made this small SUV into a real winner, because it has the potential, but anyone buying the top trim level with all this hard plastics will get disappointed. There are many cars with this kind of plastics but they will not cost you 35.000 Euros. On the other hand if you keep to the entry level version which get a lot of equipment as well, but a small 1.0 TSI engine but still 4motion and don't invest in to much extras then it is suddenly a good deal! Why? Because other cars in the price scale are worse equipped and not the same Volkswagen quality. So I would go for entry level base model with a 1.0 or 2.0 TSI 4motion. The base model are equipped with a lot of stuff and you don't really need anything else. It is a great looking car and base models are a good deal if you compare with SEAT Ateca base versions and Skoda Karoq base versions.
